Today was a little rough. Went out with a bunch of my coworkers last night just to grab 'a' drink. Clearly, that turned into 5 and a much later night then I was planning on. Slept bad and woke up hungover. All day today I remembered exactly why I don't go out/drink during the week. It makes for a VERY rough day at work! Oooohhhh, and then I went to Soup Plantation for lunch. Who doesn't eat soup/salad followed by a mini brownie and ice cream sundae before a gnarly workout? Who am I?!? Typical....
Anyways, today's workout was a circuit RFG (reps for goal). 6 exercises/ 5 times through for strength. The lifting exercise was push press. I don't like push pressing. It's hard on my noodle arms and I look dumb. BUT, I need to get stronger and I've gotta push myself. A month ago I started with just the bar- 45#'s. Today I successfully did 75#'s. Woo! It was hard and I have no clue how I'm going to get much higher then that. I pretty much stopped breathing and my noodle arms wanted to drop it on my head, but I powered through.
The BIGGEST break through of the day was on my box jumps. When I first started I wouldn't even jump on the lowest box. I DON'T box jump. I had a traumatizing experience when I was younger that involved jumping and ever since the only thing you find me jumping over is a rope! After my 2nd class at my gym my trainer made me do the first box- I think it was 12 inches. I did it and was fine, but had no desire to ever leave my little baby box. Then, I see all these people in the gym doing 30"-55" box jumps and I'm like WTF?!? I can't even dream of jumping that high. For some reason I decided to try the 18" box today. I'm assuming it's because I was amped on all the sugar from my mid day ice cream sundae (!) My friend/gym partner in crime hates box jumps as much as I do and cheered me on with another guy. I jumped next to the box at first and asked them if it looked like I could clear it. They said yes, no problem. So, I just went for it after flailing my hands around a couple times before and guess what!?!?! Yup, you got it. I successfully cleared the jump. YAY! SO excited! It's so awesome to see this progress so quickly. Once I get strict with the other areas of my life (i.e. not eating ice cream in the middle of the day) I'm going to see great results and hopefully get this stomach that I've always wanted....
Yup, watch out world! It's coming ;-)!!!
