At first glance you might think AMRAP is some kind of dance move/lift/or sweet new jam like I did when I first saw it too. Wrong! AMRAP stands for, "As many reps as possible" Aren't they all fancy with the acronyms to trick us-Blah!
Anyways, I looked at this workout this morning and was like, "Eh, 15 minutes...how bad could it be?!? I think I'll sign up for Yoga for athletes after too!" Boy was I wrong! First of all, Thrusters SUCK! And doing 15 of them quickly sucks even harder! As I was progressing through this workout I wanted to more and more just stab myself in the eye...perhaps having Rubio's for lunch was a bad idea? Ugh...Somehow I survived, but didn't know how I was going to make it through yoga. Good news was that some other guys that worked out with me signed up too so I wouldn't be the only one in pain. Other good news was that I wasn't going to be the most inflexible one in class since it was mostly males- Yipee!
Yoga started out rough...flowing through the first few 'chattarungas' (sp?) was painful. My arms were literally shaking and when she wanted me to just hold my 1/2 push up for a while I wanted to throw something at her for making it look so easy- Grrrrr! Luckily, she realized that many of us were pain and we did a significant amount of stretching for the second half of the class so things got much more tolerable.
Lately, I've been feeling much more flexible then usual and have no idea why, but this was going to be the real test. I've NEVER been flexible in my life...I've always wanted to be since in 5th grade I thought I was going to be the next Nadia Comenici (clearly that didn't happen since I was already taller then the typical gymnast at that time-dreams=shattered :-(!) Back to my other story.....We got to the part that I always dreaded since everyone else makes touching your toes and pulling them back to your head look sooooooooo easy and I can't even touch them and guess what? I had no problem at all!!! I was able to not only touch my toes, BUT I was able to pull them back towards me! WOOO HOOO!!! I know it sounds so silly, but this was a BIG deal for me. I'm happy! I'm so happy that I now feel flexible....working my way towards being flexible AND strong! This is going to be something kids, it's really going to be GREAT! :-)
