How about we....run 1.4 miles to the gym, workout, and walk/sprint home....

THAT was fun......correction- that was tiring as hell! I'm seriously exhausted! Today's workout was-
Format: Max Rounds, 22 Minutes
Pull-Ups, 8
BW Squats, 15
MB Slams, 5
V-Ups, 10
Ring Rows, 10
Jog

My friend and I are on SUPER health kick post Memorial Day madness and pre-Summer so we're getting pretty aggressive about things. I've given up drinking for the month of June (I'm going to be loads of fun :-/) and hitting the gym hard! For about 2 months now I've been claiming I'm going to start jogging to the gym to help train for the 10k Mud Run I signed up to do that's now less than 3 weeks away and I have yet to run 1 mile straight- Oopps! That being said I gotta step it up or die..okay, maybe I'm being dramatic with the 'die' thing, but I'm sure I'll puke! We jogged there and did pretty well. Did the workout which was nice and killer and then did a sprint/walk home. My friend asked how to burn fat the quickest and that's what he said to do so somehow I managed to get sucked in- lucky me :-) Well, not so lucky during, but I sure as hell feel great now..per usual. Oh, and people always ask me my goal....well here is a
solid example of what my tummy would look like in my 'dream world'. Badass, right?!?!

And she's back!

I'm back! Going to get back in the swing of writing again. The past couple weeks I just haven't been feeling like writing, but tonight I do. Thrilling news for my 3 readers I'm sure (perhaps I'm exaggerating and I really only write this for myself-fair enough!) Ever since I came back from Costa Rica I've been really good about going to the gym, but my eating has definitely not been quite as up to par. I will admit it's significantly better then it was prior to when I got all hard core for my trip, but I need to up the ante on my protein intake again. Still been juicing and having 2 hard boiled eggs for breakfast, pretty healthy lunches, and dinners, but eating a little 'off'. Friday makes 3 months until my next 'big' goal that I'm working toward- the big 30th! Wow! I swear I still feel (and sometimes act) like I'm 25- run roh!

Something REALLY rad happened to me this weekend. Our gym had our 1 year anniversary party and a raffle. The 'grand prize' for the raffle was a lifetime membership to the gym for FREE. Not week, month, year, and LIFETIME....and guess who won??!?!?! THIS GIRL! F*ck YEAH! I was SO excited I almost cried (don't judge!) Coolest. Thing. EVER! That being said I'm even more motivated then ever to keep it up and continue my journey to being in the BEST shape of my life.

This week in the gym so far has been pretty good, but I've had to do modified workouts because genius over here decided to go on a 2.5 mile walk at lunch on Monday in heels and ended up with 2 feet full of the worst blisters in my life. UGH! I have 6 on foot and 4 on the other. No bueno. That being said I haven't been able to run so been rowing quite a bit. Hoping tomorrow I can be running again....we'll see! I'll keep ya posted friends!

"If you plan on coming in tomorrow, make sure you bring your A-game." Ruh roh!!!

That was an awesome status update to see Sunday night! As if Monday's weren't already rough enough I had that little nugget of information to look forward to! He was 100% right. A-game was definitely needed! I was going to copy and paste the workout, but it's no longer up on the site. BUT, it involved a lot of box jumps, weighted back squats, pull ups, weighted sit-ups, kettle bell swings, push-ups and a run (might be missing 1-2 things). You had to do a given weight on everything so there was no slacking and get through 25 each before moving on to the next exercise and then do it 2 times through. It was called 'Devil's breathe' and it definitely took your breath away! My legs were literally shaking even when I was doing the pull-ups! CRAZY!

Tonight's workout was one that didn't look too bad on the board, but turned out to be a toughie. 2 Supersets 4 times through ending with a run. I'm already nice and sore and it's only Tuesday. Been pretty good w/ diet and exercise, but not nearly as good w/ my diet as I was before Costa Rica. Gotta get back on track again so I'm working on refocusing on myself this week. Got a little side tracked with the trip and other things going on in my life. Back to just doing me I go. I got goals I need to accomplish!!! #gettingafterit

Made it to hump day....

So, it's Wednesday and I haven't posted this week yet. Fail on my part. I've been pooped! The workouts all week have been a real kick in the pants! Monday was hard, but I don't really remember it right now. Yesterday was SO painful! It's one we do every 6 weeks and in those 6 weeks between I manage to forget how much it sucks until I'm working my way back through it again. Errrrr! It looks so easy- Descending reps from 15-2 of dumbbell lunges, medicine ball slams and pull-ups. Not fun! 119 lunges, pull ups and medicine ball slams later my legs were like jello and my booty was cramping! My legs and booty were SO sore today and today's workout was no walk in the park either. We did a AMRAP workout for 20 minutes and it had something we hadn't done before in it- Push Press complex. I never like when I see something new- it's usually some new terrible thing. This was a hang clean to 5 push presses following by 5 barbell rows and 5 barbell roll outs and that counts as 1 set. Ouch. Add some running, jump rope, farmers walk, plank and there you have our workout. Definitely got the heart racing  to say the least! Feeling pretty tired, but good. Tomorrow is a big night with the triple threat. Looking forward to yoga calming me down and getting my head clear. Gotta keep working hard for this bikini ready body! Summer is creeping up quickly! Ahhhhhhhh ;-)

SURVIVED!

It was a ROUGH week in the gym. I knew that I was going to be sore and struggling since I took almost 2 weeks off, but I didn't think it was going to be this bad. Tonight I ended my little gym week from hell with the triple threat- core blast, daily challenge, and yoga. I'm at the gym for over 2 hours on Thursday's after 4 prior workouts! I'm always tired by the end of the night, but today I didn't even know how I was going to get through core blast let alone all 3. I'm sore from head to toe and sure that I only made it through tonight out of pure will power. Luckily yoga was mostly stretching this week. God bless! After the DC I mentioned to my trainer that even though I was out the last 2 weeks I felt the workouts were extra killer. He then said, "Yes, last week when I wrote them up I knew it was going to be a tough one. #Awesome- welcome back, D! #workinghard

2 weeks off followed by 2 workouts from hell- ouch!

I'm back! My Costa Rican adventure was everything I hoped it would be! Tons or eating, drinking, relaxing, trying new things and good friends. I worked so hard prior to this trip that I told myself I would do whatever I wanted during it. What does 'whatever I want' consist of you might ask? Drinking everyday, eating whatever I please, and not doing one thing in regards to working out. I worked for this vacay so I was going to live it up!!! And that my friends I did.

Yesterday was my first day back in the after 2 full weeks off. It. Was. Rough. Deadlifts are my FAVORITE so I was excited, but scared to go. Just before my trip I PR'd and did 205#'s. I was PUMPED! Having been worthless for 2 weeks I was scared as to what my strength had dwindled down to. One of my friends from the gym sent me a note saying she was excited I was going to be back in the gym to be her partner so that was a nice bit of motivation. The workout was all around a killer! Due to the motivation my partner gave to me I was able to lift 195#'s x 4. Not my best,  but better then I expected after my poo behavior he past 2 weeks! Success.

Today on the other hand- BLEW! Both Medicine ball turkish get ups AND something called a 'humbler' were part of the workout. I have never done nor heard of this 'humbler' before and anytime that is the care I'm terrified! Definition of a 'humbler'- start w/ 1 barbell in each hand, drop to the ground and pop out to push up position, complete 1 push up, 2 renegade rows (1/s), jump back into squat position, stand up and do a curl, drop down to squat and push press over your head. THAT is one and you had to do it 5 times through. It. Was. HELL! I almost cried. I guess this was punishment for taking 2 weeks off. Typically our workouts are about 20-25 minutes and this one was more like 31- Ahhhhhh!! The running seemed like the easy part of this little gem. Good news is I've already completed 3 workouts this week and I'm very sore and tired, but feeling good to be back in the gym. I missed that place! 4 months from tomorrow is my next goal! Be in the BEST shape of my life both physically and mentally for the dirty thirty! Let's do this! :-)

Post holiday workouts are always fun...

So here I am......last Monday in the gym before I hit the beaches and jungles of Costa Rica. Yesterday being Easter didn't exactly help my cause to be deliciously bikini ready by Friday. Good news----> I only ate 2 meals yesterday- breakfast (Homemade 2 egg, pesto, feta and spinach omelet) and lunch- everything under the roof of my sisters house :-/ Okay, I wasn't THAT bad but I did go a little bat shit crazy on this bruschetta dip stuff- So freakin good! Besides that I ate some quiche (sp?) and of course a piece of chocolate mousse pie...ooooohhhhh and some jelly beans. What's Easter w/o some jelly beans, right? So, yeah, wasn't on my eating A game yesterday. I didn't drink one alcoholic beverage this weekend so I guess some of the calories I consumed in yesterday's debacle would have normally been drank so props to me...kinda ;-)

Alright, to today's workout madness. He tends to up the ante on cardio days post holiday. Good for my body yes, but not so good for my pre workout anxiety levels. Please see below.

Daily Challenge: "7th Circle"

Format: Rep Circuit
Sandbag/MB Lunges, 50
Pushup, 50
Sit-Ups, 50
Pull-Ups, 25
Jump Rope, 2 min.
50m Farmer's Walk, 3
Pull-Ups, 25
Pittsburghs, 3 (Sprints around the parking lot- oh what fun!)

Was this a long workout? No a mere +-22 minutes, but was it a toughie? Sure was! Really got the heart rate up and noodle arms feeling worthless! BUT, now that it's over per usual I feel great and pretty sure I'm going to get a solid nights sleep since my body is exhausted. Only can make it to the gym at max 2 more times this week so going to have to hit it hard. Getting back in the swing of things post vacay will be a doozie, but can't wait to enjoy Costa Rica feeling pretty gosh darn good about my body! Wooo weeeee!! ;-)

Deadlift goal= conquered!

The main goal that I wanted to achieve before I left for my trip strength wise was to deadlift 200lbs! The main goal prior to my trip in general was obviously to look as good as possible ;-) Anyways, back to the point of this post. Since I'm only in the gym at most 3 days next week I knew I had to try and achieve my deadlift goal this week since I'm not sure when they're going to come up next. When started going to this gym in November A. I had no idea what a 'deadlift' was B. I hated and had no desire to do them and C. I was only lifting 55lbs. So, what has changed 5 months later? Deadlifts are my FAVORITE lift (hands down), I know what they are (Ha!) AND as of this evening at 5:45pm I can deadlift 205lbs!! Woooo weeeee!!!!

SO freakin pumped! If you would have asked me 6 months ago if I EVER thought I was going to be able to deadlift anything I can assure you the answer would have been 'Hell No!' (Nor would I have ever thought I would want to) And look at me now! SO proud and so excited to be able to do this. Can't wait to see how much more I can improve. Going to have to come up with a new goal to reach post Costa Rica. All of this hard work that I've been doing is paying off and I'm reaping the benefits not only physically, but in other aspects in my life as well. #Grateful

Cardio circuit created to KILL!

Missed the gym yesterday which meant I had to go today regardless of the workout so I can get in at least 4 days this week. Checked the workout around 7am and decided I didn't think it looked fun- at all. Took a peak at the outdoor challenge which looked just as cardiorific-bleh! So, it looked like I had no choice but to prep for hell! All day long I had intense pre-workout anxiety. I typically get that about once a week, but usually it's just a little knot in my tummy. Today it was full blown.

Showed up a few minutes early ready to get it done! Others didn't think it looked 'too bad' and tried to soothe my fears. Just so you know those 'others' were the ones who looked just as close to death as I did by the end of the workout. It was HARD! Like, barely breathing, heart pumping, sweaty mess disaster, workout til you're ugly hard. Just like I expected, but damn did I feel good at the end. That my friends, is why working out kicks ass. THAT very feeling you get post workout when you know you just pushed yourself to a place you didn't think you could go- BOOM! Below is the workout. Then, below that is a picture of me from this weekend during my 'check in'. Down about 7 inches total, 3 months in and leaned out quite a bit. Trip is just around the corner and feeling pretty damn good! #hardworkspayingoff
